Gunfleet Boating Club News Letter-
May 2007-
Start
of the new season.
Welcome
to the start of the new season. Look forward to seeing you down the club this
season, having fun either in the water or standing at the bar.
When
you do arrive you will notice a new gate at the car park end of the road. At the
moment there is no lock on the gate so just open it and drive through and shut
the gate behind you. This is because there is a terrible parking issue in the
passing bays and by the club gate. So the council have put a gate at the end of
the road which must be kept shut, so all the members can have easy access to the
club, the second gate must also be kept shut!
Once
you get through all the gates with you water craft, that’s if you remember to
bring it. And collect The Range Rover from the compound pleases put some petrol in it! It does not refuel itself. There is a
safety chain on the back of the Range Rover, use it. It is cheaper than
repairing your craft!!
The
red Range Rover is coming along it still does not run, but the workshop man said
it is nearly there just a few more pieces to make it run, fingers crossed,
thanks to the commodore Keith Bailey, spends more time in the compound than on
the water.
If
you have not all ready renewed your membership you will need to, don’t forget
to include two copies of your insurance policy.
The
insurance is necessary, cover
notes will not be accepted. Without a valid insurance and the club not
having a copy you will not launch.
The
club is open all year round, on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday lunch times.
So come down to support your club even in the rough weather as you can have a
laugh at the bar, especially if Russ is there.
The
buoyed area is out in the proper position. This means there is no slaloming
around the buoys. As well as no racing around at the bottom of the ramp. Do not
swim or let children play at the bottom of the ramp it is very dangerous!
No
speeding until 300meters away from the sea wall. You could find your self being
fined. By the policeman in the very fast rib, it will catch up with you even if
you have got an RXP!!! (Russ)
Coming
events:
1st June a quiz to support the RNLI at the flamingo.
3rd
June AGM at the club house
9th June darts match at home against the gunfleet sailing
club. We don’t have anybody who can play yet, so it looks like we might lose.
1st
July. No smoking in the club house under the new government laws. But if
it is nice outside they will let you smoke there!
If
you haven’t been down yet, you’ve missed out a few good weekends play in the
sea. Hopefully Russ will get his new toy wet, and not with the hose pipe! But at
this moment it has only been shown the sea!!!
To
find out more information about the events come on down and have a drink.
WITH COMPLIMENTS
