Gunfleet Boating Club News Letter-

September 2005

Hi everyone, hope everything is well with you !

First thanks to everyone who attended the open day. It was a great success with full attendance from the lifeboat, the inshore boat, the beach patrols and many members. Even the weather was good. Entertainment was provided from a variety of events such as the wellie throwing and egg chucking with plenty of Banter from Russ.

Additional thanks to those who provided the excellent cakes and to Jackie for organizing the whole event……….Don’t miss it next year !!

A couple of notes from the last committee meeting :-

In future cover notes will not be an acceptable form of proof of insurance. A recent audit showed that in some instances cover notes had not been followed by full insurance. In future all members who wish to launch MUST be able to show proof of full insurance, the best way to do this is to provide a copy as required to be held by the club.

Also to use jet skiis etc on a regular basis those using them other than direct family MUST be full members and covered on insurance. It is not acceptable for a member to repeatedly bring others to use the facilities who are not members.

Unfortunately we have to remind everyone again that all persons using boats or Jet skis must have a lifejacket and wear it for the whole of their trip to sea. This is a club rule.

New membership cards will be printed and distributed soon.

And lastly…….even though some think that the launch vehicle is nuclear powered and self refueling, this is not in fact the case. The club does not provide fuel for the vehicle its up to the members to donate it. If each person occasionally put in a few litres it would always be ok. At the moment there are about 6 members who have filled this up throughout the season and we are getting pretty cheesed off that when we go to use it its often almost empty. Please do your part and donate some unleaded fuel if you want the club to provide a vehicle.

Other

Some great jet skiing conditions the last few weeks, perhaps this is the summer we waited for !!

We provided safety cover for the Tendering triathlon on Sat and Sunday which went very well……yes we were at sea by 7.00am on Sunday !! Only disappointing event was that someone stole my boat anchor, chain and buoy !! unbelievable !!!!!!!
