Gunfleet Boating Club News Letter-
July
2005
Well
we had the AGM, thanks for all those that took the trouble to turn up !! We
rounded up all the normal suspects to run the club for another day so thanks to
the “volunteers”. You will get the minutes along with this newsletter. The
committee would very much welcome some new faces to take on some of the roles,
it means giving up a few hours on a Sunday every 5 or so weeks and a few hours
at other time so its not a huge workload and it means the club gets new ideas.
The
first thing I wanted to make sure everyone realizes is that Aug 28th
is the clubs open day. It’s the day we get to show the club to others as well
as having a fun day for all the members. The lifeboat will attend along with its
mobile shop. There will be loads of fun things for the kids to do, and the beer
will be flowing. We will be inviting the other local clubs and it’s a day to
show off our club to potential new members. It’s a lot of work to arrange this
day and Jackie Fisher has taken on the challenge, so please help her with ideas
and practical help.
You
will see from the minutes that after the last few years of improvements to the
club facilities that we need now to generate some additional income. The best
ways to do this is to ensure we have good attendance at the functions that are
organized and that people part with their money over the bar !! Please remember
the bar is open on Sat and Sunday lunchtime for the whole year not just in the
summer.
One
member suggested that we publiscise the years functions in one go. I will try to
do this after the first committee meeting of the year.
We
are also to arrange induction sessions to ensure everyone adheres to the safety
rules which have been updated.
So
it’s a quick update,
Happy
boating, skiing, fishing and whatever
And
remember …..lets stay safe out there !!!
