Trips to Gunfleet Sands
have been held a number of times.
On these occasions we have traveled a number miles (4 miles straight out in fact) to go and play cricket on the sand, as they surface during a very low tide.

Though the sand is not always there if the tide does not go out far enough, as shown in the pictures.
No trips to the sands have been planned for the last view years, but it is also possible if people are interested. (see January 2003 Newsletter).
As a club we also raise funds for out
local lifeboat (Clacton
RNLI ). The lifeboat is a very good cause and you will never know when you may
need them.
We have helped raise money for them in a number of ways. These pictures are of the Annual Birdman of Clacton competition that was held at the club to help raise funds for Clacton Lifeboat. Members also kindly offered to help and make sure that all contestants in the competition were safe on landing and got back to the shore ok.
A
large number of contestants took part in this contest and it was very
entertaining for every one to watch.
We also always attended the Horse Race Night that is held by the Clacton RNLI to raise funds, we have our own table and a large number of members attend and help support the lifeboat.
The club also has a number
of Sit-Down Dinners though out the year,
these
are the laying up super (to celebrate the end of the water sports season), Christmas
dinner, and fitting out (to celebrate the start of the season) which is mostly
just a sailing tradition as the season never ends now due to winter fishing activities.
This event has always been tickets only and the dinner can only seat a limited number of people so please book early.
These are the events
when you
get to sit down and be waited on
with a three course meal, but the end of the night does not ever end
just after the dinner, the tables get moved and the night continues with a
party.
Tickets always sell out rather fast for this event, being the main events though the year.
During a sit down meal we sit between 60 and 70 members.

To the left you can see Santa in his grotto with his elf to help.
As we are a family club we want to offer events for the members children.

One event that is put on every year is that of the Children's Christmas Party, were Father Christmas always arrives with gifts for the children. Food and drinks are also provided for the children.
No current events are planned at this moment in time. Please keep checking as there will be an open day arranged this year, usually around August.
Just because no events are currently planned do not let this put you off. It does not mean the club is not currently open. Its far different the club is currently very busy at the weekends, is will be staying open as long as people are there.
